FAQ
1. Where should I go to see the famous French architecture?
Fontainebleau is home to the Vaux le Vicomte, while other great castles wait in the Loire Valley (like Montreuil Bellay, Blois, and Chenonceaux). You’ll also find fine examples of Gothic religious monuments in Paris, Amiens, Reims, Rouen and Chartres. There is a Medieval city in Annecy, and Mont Saint Michel has the World Heritage medieval abbey. You should also go to Versaille, home to the royal palace.
2. What are some fun family destinations?
Be sure to visit Disneyland Paris and Futuroscope. Children will also enjoy the beaches.
3. Do I need to speak French?
It does help to know the language, but the French are not (contrary to popular opinion) going to be abrasive just because you can’t speak it fluently. Just know a few phrases which you can get from guide books or travel websites.
4. Do I need a visa?
Since France is part of the Schengen Agreement. This means that if you have a visa to any country that signed that treaty then it is valid in France. And as a member of the European Union, it does not require any visa if you are a citizen of other member states.
The visa requirements are also waived for Australian, Indonesian and Malaysian visitors who are there only for a vacation.
